Morning cloud and cool conditions cleared at noon as we rolled into the Midwest prairie flats at Grand Forks, ND. Glenn and I took advantage of the warmer weather by stowing the hemlets and going bare head to the breeze....not Ian's thing. Low lying land showed the mark of recent flooding. New road construction on farm access roads was a common sight. Small lakes have formed in fields leaving some farm homes and buildings completely removed from solid land on all sides. I love the prairie ride! Big sky, pick your own speed, see to the horizon.....Brother Glenn limped into one fuel stop running on fumes after underestimating the impact of strong headwinds on his fuel consumption. The Venture and the ST had a little race for excitement....no contest I'm afraid....you guess who came out on top in a mile sprint from a 120K starting gate. The geographical centre of North America was interesting.....the locals sold jams and had a prairie museum there to exploit the feature.....these Americans know how to make a buck from whatever they're given to work with!
